Looking to purchase a new 5th wheel. Looked at several different models, some with a rubber ride suspension, some with the conventional leaf sprung suspension. Interested in opinions/experiences. Longevity of the two (maintenance standpoint).
I've never had a problem with leaf springs on a trailer. The pivot points on the shackles need regular greasing on some models (same schedule as wheel bearings), but not much more for maintenance. As for rubber, my only experience is a utility trailer made out of the chassis of a Fan travel trailer from the 1960's and it's still going strong.
