Towing

Can I tow a Dutchman Denali model 285RE with a Ram 1500 or do I need a bigger/heavier truck? That's the Denali with double pop-outs.

JWink, first off welcome to the forum.

Need year of the trailer and more information on the Ram. Engine, trans, diff gear ratio, year of the truck, if it has tow package, any modifications made that would affect towing ability, any ratings you have available.

Google search for the Denali 285RE shows up as a 2011 unit, not sure when these were built. For 2011 it shows length 32 1/2 feet, GVWR 9680 lbs and tongue weight empty 780 lbs. Off hand that seems a good bit of trailer for a half ton pickup. Depending on what year your Ram is and how it is equipped the ratings vary greatly, with newer trucks rated significantly higher than older. My Rockwood Windjammer 3008W Ultra Light weighs about the same and is a couple feet longer and I tow it very comfortably with a 2011 Ram 2500 crew cab 6.5' bed Cummins. Just last week towed from Ohio to Florida, in fact typing this from Panama City campsite.
