Well, what I have always done is prior to actually hooking up and heading out to the campgrounds, was make a LIST or several. Sit at your computer and just think of what do you need to do prior to leaving, what do need to take with you, what do you need to with your tow vehicle prior to leaving (gas, oil, etc), what do you need to do at the house prior to leaving, what do you need to do to regarding any appt you may have, and then once your at the campground, what do I need to do to set up, then after you have had a great time, what do I need to do to pack up and get ready to hook up to leave, and finally, what do I need to do after I get home with the unit to make sure it is all set for the next trip. May sound a little silly, but referring to a LIST(s) may just save you from a really bad experience. Enjoy and safe travels.
 
Always run water through the hook up spigot for a couple of seconds before hooking up your hose. Insects like to hide in there! My uncle taught me this after finding earwigs caught in the hose filter several times. And sure enough, we've washed earwigs and other insects out of hose spigots several times!
 
A simple tip here -In an RV one of the biggest energy hogs is air conditioning. Parking your RV in a shady location can make an enormous difference in the amount of energy that will be needed to be comfortable.

I recently had an issue where DEF was accidentally introduced into the fuel tank of my diesel truck, resulting in a full fuel system replacement estimate of approximately $16,000.

My insurer (National General) has indicated they will not cover this under comprehensive coverage. The dealership where I had my truck repaired mentioned that Geico and Progressive have covered this for their customers with no issues at all. They were very surprised to hear that National General declined.

I’m trying to understand how other carriers handle accidental fuel contamination claims.

For those who have experienced this, was it treated as:
Comprehensive (accidental contamination)?
Mechanical breakdown (excluded)?
Or something else?

Any firsthand experience with how Geico, Progressive, or other carriers approach this would be helpful.
